SHOWCASE: “Show, Don’t Tell” Film Projects | FilmingLife® ArtHouse
“Don’t tell me the moon is shining; show me the glint of light on broken glass."
- Anton Chekhov
The February theme for our ArtHouse Film Project was led by FilmingLife® Community Manager Kylie Purtell and was all about making films that make us FEEL something.
Sometimes less is more when it comes to creating films, and we wanted our members to really push themselves to not only make us really feel something with their films (without being really obvious about it) but to also edit their work down to it’s very best core by limiting how long their films could be.
ArtHouse themes are usually broken down into 2 levels for our members to choose to work on, but for February we just had the one level.
The brief was deceptively simple… SHOW us a feeling/emotion or adjective, don't tell us about it. Make us FEEL it. Films MUST be 90 seconds or less.
As always the films that were submitted & created by our members were just amazing, and we’re so pleased to present them to you today…
The Educator’s Choice Award has been chosen by the Lead Educator of the film project SHOW, DON’T TELL, FilmingLife® Community Manager Kylie Purtell, as those that fully embody the spirit of the FilmingLife® ArtHouse, and are noted for their storytelling, creativity and unique interpretation of the theme.

What Kylie said about Sarah’s film -
“From the first watch there was just something so calming and inviting in Sarah’s film. I really felt connected to her life and what she was showing me with these beautiful little snippets of her day. I could feel the warmth of the sunshine through the windows and the joy of her boy as he experienced his day. It felt like I was right there with them.”
