PERSPECTIVES Showcase | FilmingLife® ArtHouse Film Project
The Term 4 2025 theme for our ArtHouse Film Project was led by FilmingLifer PRO Melissa Hines and encouraged our members to explore how the way we see, hear and interpret the world shapes the stories we tell. She encouraged us to experiment with both visual and audio perspectives to create more intentional, emotionally resonant films.
Our ArtHouse themes are chosen to give members the opportunity to try a new skill or technique, the space to refine or try out an idea they’ve been playing with, or provide inspiration and encouragement to create personal films outside of client work or experiment with new techniques in their client films.
The goal of the ArtHouse is that members will add tools to their tool belt that will have them feeling more confident and accomplished in their filmmaking.
There were two levels for our PERSPECTIVES theme for our members to choose from - for level 1 films we asked members to incorporate one or more new to them visual perspective technique(s) into their film that would help them and the viewer consider something in a new way. For members making a level 2 film, we asked members to layer visual perspective techniques and audio perspective techniques to leave the viewer with an intended feeling.
As always the films that were submitted & created by our members were just amazing, and we’re so pleased to present them to you today…
The Educator’s Choice Award is chosen by the Lead Educator of the film project as those that fully embody the spirit of the FilmingLife® ArtHouse, and are noted for their storytelling, creativity and unique interpretation of the theme.
Julia Xanthos Liddy
What Melissa said about Julia’s film -
”This film starts with Julia highlighting her family's dynamic and you think you're about to watch a light hearted family video reel and then it shifts into some discomfort when her mom doesn't want to be filmed. But then magic happens, and Julia's words paired with peeling back the outer layers to really see who her mom is as a person and not just a mom, completely changed her perspective and as a result mine, which left me in tears. Well done!”
