The Term 3 2026 theme, VERTICAL, was led by FilmingLifer PRO Belinda Dorman challenged our members to expand their horizons by working with vertical video on purpose. In a world where our films are increasingly being shared on social media, knowing how, when and why to work with vertical video is an invaluable skill for both personal and professional work.
Our ArtHouse themes are chosen to give members the opportunity to try a new skill or technique, the space to refine or try out an idea they’ve been playing with, or provide inspiration and encouragement to create personal films outside of client work or experiment with new techniques in their client films.
The goal of the ArtHouse is that members will add tools to their tool belt that will have them feeling more confident and accomplished in their filmmaking.
There were two levels for our VERTICAL theme for members to choose from - for level 1 films we asked members to create a short vertical film with footage captured on a phone. For members making a level 2 film, we asked members to create a short film with footage they captured vertically in-camera on their big cameras.
As always the films that were submitted & created by our members were just amazing, and we’re so pleased to present them to you today…
The Educator’s Choice Award is chosen by the Lead Educator of the film project as those that fully embody the spirit of the FilmingLife® ArtHouse, and are noted for their storytelling, creativity and unique interpretation of the theme.
Paige Gotts
What Belinda said about Paige’s film -
”Paige's film has so many beautifully composed vertical shots that really showcase how framing intentionally for vertical can make the story more person focussed. It really immerses us in their moments, it's such a beautiful little film of everyday family moments that I know this family will come back to watch again and again.”

What Belinda said about Julia’s film -
”Julia's film receives an honourable mention because it directly shows how the two compositions can show a scene so differently but at the same time equally as beautiful. Although it isn't entirely intentionally shot for vertical I love the comparison of the two side by side in this beautifully shot and edited film. I can't wait to see more of Julia's videography shared like this, love, love, love!.”
