SHOWCASE: “Composition” Film Projects | FilmingLife® ArtHouse
The September / October theme for our ArtHouse Film Project was led by FilmingLifer PRO Melissa Hines and was all about COMPOSITION.
Composition is how we arrange the elements of a scene within our frame. We can intentionally utilize one or more composition techniques to create a balanced frame that draws the viewer into the story we are telling.
Some examples of composition techniques: Leading lines - both literal and implied ~ Using rule of thirds ~ Playing with scale and perspective ~ Framing the scene ~ Creating symmetry and balance ~ Creating triangles within the frame
All ArtHouse themes are broken in to 2 levels. For the COMPOSITION theme the levels were defined as follows -
For Level One COMPOSITION films we asked our members to create a film that intentionally uses one or more composition techniques you normally don't utilize.
For Level Two COMPOSITION films we asked members to create a film that uses composition to create an overall feeling.
As always the films that were submitted & created by our members were just amazing, and we’re so pleased to present them to you today…
The Educator’s Choice Award is chosen by the Lead Educator of the film project as those that fully embody the spirit of the FilmingLife® ArtHouse, and are noted for their storytelling, creativity and unique interpretation of the theme.

What Melissa said about Jessica's film -
”I absolutely loved how the composition choices that Jessica made really leaned into giving the viewer the same feeling of wonder and magic that her son has for the world around him. I could not stop smiling throughout. Well done!”
