SECOND CHANCE Showcase | FilmingLife® ArtHouse Film Project
The Term 4 2024 theme for our ArtHouse Film Project was led by FilmingLife® Community Manager Kylie Purtell and gave our members the opportunity to try out an ArtHouse theme they hadn’t previously completed.
Our ArtHouse themes are chosen to give members the opportunity to try a new skill or technique, the space to refine or try out an idea they’ve been playing with, or provide inspiration and encouragement to create personal films outside of client work.
The goal of the ArtHouse is that members will add tools to their tool belt that will have them feeling more confident and accomplished in their filmmaking.
For the Second Chance theme we asked members to select a theme from the 2023 & 2024 ArtHouse that they hadn’t previously completed and work on a level 1 or 2 film for that theme.
The themes our members were able to choose from were as follows -
January / February 2023: SHOW, DON’T TELL
March / April 2023: STOP MOTION
May / June 2023: LIGHT
July / August 2023: OVERLAYS
September / October 2023: COMPOSITION
November / December 2023: ALTERNATIVE LIGHT
Term One 2024: BREAK THE RULES
Term Two 2024: STORYTELLING
Term Three 2024: DAILY LIFE
As always the films that were submitted & created by our members were just amazing, and we’re so pleased to present them to you today…
The Educator’s Choice Award is chosen by the Lead Educator of the film project as those that fully embody the spirit of the FilmingLife® ArtHouse, and are noted for their storytelling, creativity and unique interpretation of the theme.
Belinda Dorman
What Kylie said about Belinda’s film -
”Belinda’s chosen theme was Overlays and I loved her two-fold purpose for using them. In the first instance, to create a sense of nostalgia and to emphasise the passing of time. And in the second instance, to solve a problem that sourcing and using old video footage can present in our films - namely, that the quality doesn’t match the quality of the other footage we wish to use. Belinda used her overlays to overcome this problem, and did so in a really logical and beautiful way. I also really loved Belinda’s storytelling in this film, and the obvious love she has for her subject. I was bawling by the final scene. Gorgeous work, Belinda, and a powerful legacy film for your family.”
